Shopping for a wedding dress can feel like a dream, but before scheduling your appointment, you want to make sure you’re prepared. Below, you’ll find a few of the most frequently asked questions we get about bridal dress shopping. By the end, you should be prepared to find the perfect fit for your dream day!
When Should You Start Wedding Dress Shopping?
Wedding dresses are custom-made to highlight your beauty, so the last thing you want to do is leave shopping to the last minute. But when should you start the shopping process?
Some people choose to wait until they’re engaged, though that’s entirely up to you and your timeline. The most important thing is to make sure there’s enough time to find the right dress and get it tailored.
For this purpose, we recommend starting the process a year before your wedding date. Then we recommend making the final decision no less than eight months before the date.
What Should I Wear When I Try On Wedding Dresses?
When dressing for your appointment, it’s essential to make sure you’ll get an accurate impression of how the dress will look during your big day.
This means you’ll want to wear a strapless bra. As well, we recommend wearing nude underwear. Thongs are perfectly fine if you’re comfortable, but keep in mind that you’ll be in close proximity with the stylist, as well as the entourage you choose to bring.
It’s a good idea to know what shoes you want to plan before you go dress shopping, since the type of heel and how much height it adds can impact your look.
It’s also a good idea to bring a hair tie with you, in case you decide you want to wear your hair up during the wedding. This is much easier than having someone hold your hair up while looking at a myriad of different fits.
Who Usually Goes Wedding Dress Shopping?
Your wedding dress entourage can be seen as a reflection of whose opinion you most value, For this reason, you may want to bring the family members you’re closest to. That said, it’s always a good idea to bring at least one bridesmaid, who is more likely to be brutally honest.
We can only seat 4-5 bridal guests, but we do our best to accommodate larger parties. Please note that children must be at least 10 years of age, for security reasons.
